Brisbane: St Patrick’s Day Parade
The rolling hills of the Emerald Isle are home to leprechauns, limericks, lucky charms and the long lost cousins of many Queenslanders who will be celebrating their Irish heritage at this year’s annual Brisbane St Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday 12th March.
The parade will kick off at 10.30am from the corner of Elizabeth and George Street in the CBD. The St Patrick’s Day Parade is a showcase of Irish culture featuring colourful floats, fanfare, traditional dancing and lyrical pipe bands providing free entertainment for the whole family.
Irish pubs across Brisbane will be also join in the celebrations with live music and entertainment from Saturday 12th through until St Patrick’s Day on Thursday 17th March. Don’t miss this free fun-filled tradition!

Sunday 6 March 2011 is national Clean Up Australia Day. It’s also going to be the day when hundreds of sites across Brisbane and south east Queensland will be cleaned up following the January floods.
Register now to be part of the event, volunteering to lend a hand and make a real difference to our parks, local streets and suburbs.
Volunteering at Brisbane City Council clean-up sites
To volunteer at a Council flood clean-up site, select your nearest location from one of the pin points on the map. This will allow you to view the location details and complete the volunteer registration form.”

Learn to transform pre-loved fabric into something new and fashionable; try your hand at silver smithing or resin jewellery; turn found objects into a sculpture; or learn the basics of 3D animation in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Workshops cover a range of art forms including dance, life drawing, singing, hand sewing, memory box making, social justice writing, recycled instrument building, resin jewellery, landscape painting, pinhole photography, solar printmaking, and metal and found object sculpture. So try something different, learn something new and taste test the arts.
